It was the third time we have seen each other this year. We peered, unexpectantly, through the clothes aisle at everyone’s favorite discount store. How are you? Thank you. What are you up to these days? How are the kids? How are the grandkids? No offense, but I kept driving the conversation and she kept talking about herself. I was interested but expected a question might land on me and then I could share how hard this year has been for me. It never happened – no worries. What I learned is that I am not a pastor but I love people and know how to show it. Just ask questions – it’s that simple.
